We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who raise money, solicit material donations, shop for items below retail, centralize and sort items, and deliver donations to the Children’s Hospitals at UNC, Duke, and the UNC pediatric oncology center.
With your help we enhance the daily lives of hospitalized children and teens by providing toys, art supplies, gift cards, snacks, and other comfort items to help bring joy to their days.
My wife, Angela has been fighting stage four melanoma since May 2020. We struggled through a couple of really tough years. There was lots of time spent in hospitals, hotels, wheelchairs, and lots of added expenses. But thanks to an incredible doctor she is doing well now. While traveling to treatment for four years, we saw many sick children and were motivated to give back.
We set aside some of our 2023 Christmas budget to buy comfort items for the kids. We reached out to family and friends about our endeavor and in October 2023 delivered over $5000 of joy to the UNC Pediatric Cancer Center. We immediately realized we had to continue this, and Hugs for Hospitals was born.
